The main goal of this paper is to present the system identification technique to yield a good transfer function of the actual plant. The steps start with hardware setup, data collection, model estimation, and eventually model validation. Based on input and output data of the system, best fit criterion, and correlation analysis of the residual is utilized to construct the sufficient model to represent the system. Identification of Single Input Single Output (SISO) transfer function is considered. The transfer function is parameterized as black box model. Resistance, Inductance, Capacitance (RLC) electrical circuit is taken into account as a black box model. PIC 16F877A microcontroller is used to generate 7-bit Pseudo Random Binary Sequence (PRBS) signal. PRBS signal is utilized as an input to be injected to the system.
